Artist Statement
Commercial photographer & photojournalist specializing in western, regional stock and travel, and Montana photography. Work primarily for ad agencies, newspapers, magazines, and corporate clients.
Raised on a farm, I sold my house, shuttered my business, and moved to Montana to fulfill my dream of photographing the back roads and hidden corners of Montana and the American West. An admirer of iconic symbols of American culture, I spend much of his time making Montana photography, travel photography, and western photography of the remote, anonymous landmarks that dot Montana's landscape.
I hope my photographs reveal my fondness for eastern Montana where I find many of the old abandoned homesteads, churches, schoolhouses, and grain elevators that distinguish his photographs. I also spend much of my time photographing Montana's cowboys, Native American Indians, and railroad workers, whose culture and traditional way of life is threatened by the hands of time.
I split time between Havre and White Sulphur Springs, Montana, but I considers the anonymous gravel roads of Montana my home as I travel from one corner of the state to the other (and across the western United States) seeking interesting stories to capture with his camera.
I work primarily for ad agencies, newspapers, magazines, and corporate clients and my photos have been published in such places as Montana Magazine, Popular Photography, Newsweek, People, Sports Illustrated, and many other publications, newspapers, websites, calendars and books. I am available for contract work, my images are available for purchase as prints, and my work can be licensed for commercial use.
