Artist Statement
Identity and Perception Series
Pushing traditional boundaries of photography, oil painting and text, I combine them to create a hybrid that confronts today's individual and societal issues in our impersonal metropolitan areas: alienation, loneliness, loss of identity, time, self-image, and how others view us.
Movement Interrupted Series
We are in a period of history where things are disintegrating and falling apart which is what my work reflects, yet I try to find the beauty in the uncertainty.
Process Statement
Identity and Perception Series
Photographing crowds of people in public places like Grand Central Station, The Met, city streets, etc. I write imaginary bios on some of the people to give them a voice, to stand out from the crowd. One-of-a-kind works.
Movement Interrupted Series
Embracing chance, I am harnessing the visual effects of data corruption glitches, by photographing my TV screen when it fragments due to uneven reception, stretching the colors, and shapes into a new format. Printed as dye sublimation on metal.
