Artist Statement
All my projects and work come from my projects and work. Sounds a bit like double talk or bait and switch, but there is always a thread from one project to another though it might not be readily apparent.
In my early 20's I went out and photographed and fell in love with the rodeo. Not so much the actual bull and bronc riding but all the behind the scenes that went into that 8 second ride. The rodeo led me to the racetrack, again not the big show but all that the behind the scenes. Which led me to Kentucky and The Homeplace which is where I have been these past twelve years and continue to be.
Process Statement
My work is and always has been built on relationships with those that I photograph. I am not an objective observer. I make work about those whose lives I have been lucky enough to enter and share and in turn hope to share with others.
