Artist Statement
In my work I am interested in bringing the medium of photo-
graphy into a space of associative ambiguity, which runs against its tradition of representation and depiction. I create an atmosphere of timelessness and melancholy by showing places and actions that have no spatial or narrative roots.
The focus is on semi-public spaces marked by traces of the private, and on actions that elude clear attribution. Through creating visually charged images, by reduction and separating elements, I aim to capture these as multi-layered scenes where subliminal attributions to gender and other social, cultural and migrant identities oscillate. In this context, combining sensory aspects with criticism of social stereotypes is important to me.
