Artist Statement
Born in Belgium on January 20, 1964. As a teenager, he photographed (using an Instamatic) and shot (in Super 8) “his” hometown, in the suburbs of Liège. Fascinated by both literature and pictures, he sometimes supplemented his photographs with texts.
He now devotes most of his time to photography, writing and travelling in the ex-USSR.
He regularly exhibits his work in Belgium, France, Germany, Brazil and elsewhere.
Process Statement
Rhizomes are composed of underground stems that lengthen by pushing small branches or leaves at one of its ends while another part of itself is destroyed. Potatoes are typical examples of rhizomes. Rhizomes grow in a vague, imprecise way, without any real structure or obvious purpose. My work is close to this kind of wandering, of spreading out over a certain area or field, generaly to the Est.
