Food Pictures
These pictures explore visual aspects of food and also my own complex feelings about eating animals and plants. All the pictures came about either before or after I cooked something and when I saw the possibility for a photograph.
The origin for the work stretches back to my childhood when my father made chicken soup every other Monday. I remember at a certain point be began putting several pairs of bright yellow chicken feet into the pot along with the chicken. For me, the sight of the feet was horrific. I understood meat as coming from the market in clean packages stripped of feather, head and blood. Like many today, I see food as a complicated comfort.
