Artist Statement
I photograph available developer trays so that the photography community will remember a specific and unique printing tool that has been a seminal part of the analog photographic experience. By titling each tray with its owner’s name, I reference the historical significance of these objects in a minimal manner that evokes thought and introspection about what images have passed through each individual tray.
Process Statement
These photographs were taken on color negatives with a 4 x 5 inch view camera. I scan my negatives and make inkjet prints. This project is not meant as a rejection of digital technology. I make a point of using all processes that allow me the most control over my finished product.
