Artist Statement
My artwork consists of large-scale color photographic abstractions. Rather than produce literal representations of buildings, I try to distill the essential qualities of form, texture, color and detail.
Process Statement
Before photographing I create preliminary sketches developing a cubist interpretation of the forms. The early photographs were made by winding the film through the camera in small increments, thus producing one long negative of overlapping images. The most recent are shot digitally and overlapped in Photoshop and printed as inkjets on an Epson 9600.
