Artist Statement
Looking at Jan Wenzel’s photographs, you get a feeling of utter tranquillity. The objects are reduced to the essential, to their basic message. It isn’t possible to recognise the representational perceived shapes at first glance.
Jan Wenzel visualises the entire in detail. You get a feeling of utter tranquillity. Really concentrating, it seems as though not only the observer is holding his breath – but the whole world does.

Process Statement
All images come from film negatives and are printed on silver-gelatin paper using the traditional wet darkroom process. No digital manipulations are being made.
Chronology
1967 Born in Munich, Germany
1998 Voyage to Yosemite Valley and Point Lobos, the home of Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.
2004 Publication of picture "Boston Outdoors" in German magazine "Photographie"
2005 Publication of picture "Modern Munich III" as second place winner in contest of German magazine "Photographie".
2007 Second voyage to California. Met Cara Weston, daughter of Cole and granddaughter of Edward Weston. We become friends and work together.
