"Samson's Hair Repaired" is a long standing documentation of an Italian, immigrant barber who had been cutting hair for eight decades. Beginning in 1935 during the Great Depression, he ended in the aftermath of the Great Recession.

Tony cut hair in the space that was once his parents living room before it was converted into a barbershop in the 1920's. Located in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh, PA. he worked with his older brother Frank. Tony was 95 years old when he had a fatal heart attack. He had just finished working on a Saturday afternoon. He was 95 years old.

This project involves a body of work that includes: still photographs, text, video & sound. It documents the interaction Tony had with his many customers who were devoted to him with a familial quality in their allegiance. His clientele included multi- generational families crossing demographic lines of age, class and ethnicity. This project also records Tony's and his customers stories and remembrances of the neighborhood they grew up in.
