Introduction
These images are from the series of 72, made
along the banks of the Kamo River in Kyoto Japan (2009). It is a long held tradition for local couples of all ages and backrounds to sit by the river- chatting, eating, or simply watching the river flow.
I have worked extensively in Japan over recent years and in common with much of my other output, this body of work alludes to the notion of 'oneness'. I like to think of these images as deceptively simple, yet very telling on a variety of fronts.
Although shot as still images, the entire body of work was recently shown as a slow dissolve video installation in Galerie Weissraum which is situated by the Kamo River itself.
