David Carol was born in New York City.
He attended the School of Visual Arts and
The New School for Social Research where he studied under Lisette Model.
He has been traveling and taking pictures for himself and others for over twenty years.
David is a contributing writer for Rangefinder Magazine with a monthly column called Photo Finish. He is also a weekly contributing writer for Emerging Photographer Magazine.
David is the author of the three photography books listed below:
His first book 40 Miles of Bad Road... was a ten year retrospective of his personal work from 1993 through 2003
with an afterward by Anne Wilkes Tucker photography curator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
His second book All My Lies are True... is a collection of photographs taken throughout his twenty-five year career.
His latest book is actually a non-book called "THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!"
The non-book contains 40 photographs and 14 accompanying text plates unbound in a clear Lucite enclosure
with an essay by Jodi Peckman, Creative Director and Director of Photography at Rolling Stone Magazine.
