Artist Statement
As a photographer, cameras, practitioners and pictures have always been the objects of my affection. These image-makers and instruments of light transmission, time/travel, recording and projection have become my photographic subjects.
As I struggle with notions of attachment and abandonment of my analog past while I attend to the latest digital advances, I acknowledge living in two worlds. I wish for my photographs to be the platform where these odd assortments may have a conversation.
Christine Osinski's work has been included in recent exhibitions at The Portland Art Museum, Oregon; The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin; La Casa Encendida, Madrid; The New York Public library; Wave Hill, Bronx, NY; The Newhouse Contemporary Art Center and Blue Sky Gallery, Portland, Oregon.
In 2005 Osinski became a Guggenheim Fellow. Her work has also received support from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Graham Foundation and Lightwork among other foundations.
Her photographs can be found in the collections of MoMA, NYC; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; The New York Public Library; The Museum of the City of New York; and in numerous other museums. Osinski earned her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her MFA from Yale University.
