In her photography, Beth Wald combines a lifelong love of the natural environment and fascination with the world’s diverse cultures. These two passions have led her from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego at the tip of South America, from Cuba to Afghanistan, in a wide-ranging visual exploration of how we as humans interact with the land and environment that surrounds us.
Beth has done national and international assignments for many editorial clients including National Geographic, Smithsonian, The New York Times, Outside, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal and many others. She has worked for commercial clients such as Nikon, Patagonia and The North Face as well as pursuing numerous personal projects.
Having started her career photographing adventure sports and expeditions, in the last decade Beth has increasingly turned to documenting cultures and environments at risk, including the traditional lives of gauchos in Patagonia and the plight of people and the environment in Afghanistan. Beth received the prestigious Rowell Award in 2006 in recognition of her photography and her commitment to the people and places that inspire her. She has also received awards and recognition from POY, American Photography, Outdoor Photographer and others
In between travels, Beth Wald lives in Boulder, Colorado, where she climbs, runs and tries to keep a garden alive.
