Artist Statement
Photography is close to poetry and thus the form follows the function. In a super saturated internet based world of individual one-off images, I see my final projects as singular photo books that operate as independent narratives. Each book also functions as a singular art object. The sequence and design of the photographs in each book are essential in conveying the narrative and layered themes of each project. These are not monographs or documentarian studies, but instead they are artistic statements. I do not care if the created works do not align with the commercial contemporary field. Instead, on a daily basis I photograph projects around my surrounding environment. I continue to produce projects around these ideals, and where they will lead me is often the adventure.
Andrew Fedynak (ICP One-Year Certificate Program and Hartford Art School MFA) continues to be driven to search both internally and externally for some form of balance in life. Thus he varies the perceptual moments of each project around a variety of internal reflections and in reaction to the energy of specific individuals. He prefers to see his finished projects in a book format. Formally of Asheville, North Carolina, his photographs are often found around his current home in Virginia and in other locations as these moments occur. He is also the owner and publisher of Zatara Press.
